MFT Associate

I specialize in working with young adults and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and/or going through major transitions in their relationships, careers, and/or their own emotional growth. As a therapist, I want to provide a safe space where people feel seen and heard as they navigate challenges like starting or ending a relationship, starting a family, going through a divorce, preparing to go away to college, changing careers, and/or dealing with unexpected changes in their lives.

As an Asian-American therapist, I have understanding and empathy for clients of color who carry shame, guilt, and undue pressure from their family relationships.

My approach to therapy draws from my own life-changing experiences in therapy. It combines several modalities designed to help people find their own balance, create healthy boundaries in relationships, and shift their outlook on themselves, others, and the world. These modalities include:

  • Cognitive behavioral therapy, in which clients learn to identify and challenge untrue stories and irrational thoughts to form healthier and more supportive thoughts and behaviors.

  • Solution-focused therapy, which supports clients in clarifying their goals and finding tangible ways to reach them.

  • Person-centered therapy, where clients have a safe space to express and process their thoughts and emotions at a comfortable pace.

I believe all of us have the tools we need to change, learn, and grow. My goal as a therapist is to support clients as they discover these tools, work toward emotional healing, and tap into their strengths. I want to give people everything they need to find their way to a more joyful and fulfilling life.

Cybele Martinez

MSW Associate

I work with folks who are dealing with anxiety, depression, PTSD, and/or struggling to adjust to new life events. I started my career as a substance abuse counselor in New York City,  before moving on to crisis family casework, and then most recently I worked with survivors of torture.

My goal is to help my clients facilitate a healthier relationship with their emotions and help them reach their goals in living a happy and healthy life. I also strive to create a safe and brave space where clients are able to express themselves comfortably and be as emotionally vulnerable as they would like to be. I aim to help my clients create healthy boundaries, not only with others but with themselves, as well.

Having gone through my own journey with therapy, I am empathic to how difficult the process can be and the feeling of wanting to be heard and understood. My experience in therapy has influenced my own practices, in which I use person centered strategies. These include:

  • Motivational Interviewing- an approach in which clients learn to find the internal motivation to make positive change in their life.

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy- an approach in which clients learn how to identity and change inaccurate or negative thinking patterns in order to view certain situations more clearly.

Ultimately, I believe that every person has the power and ability to live life as the best version of themselves, and I believe it is a privilege as a therapist to be able to assist my clients in their journey to living a happy and fulfilling life.
